Johor Tourism Board
In 1964, Johor State Government formed Tourism Unit, later placed under the
Government Secretary. On 29 Nov 1989, Johor State Tourism Department was
established, operating independently from 1 Mar 1993. Malaysia's Cabinet
approved State Tourism Action Councils in 2002. Johor established its
Tourism Action Council with a secretariat.
In March 2009, these councils were taken over by the Ministry of Culture,
Arts & Tourism Malaysia. On 25 Nov 2009, Johor re-established its Tourism
Department separately. On 13 Jan 2016, the department was renamed Tourism
Johor, used in official communications since.
