Newark is New Jersey's largest city, located in the heart of the Metro New York region. The Garden State's largest metropolis, Newark is the cultural center of the state, offering endless arts and entertainment options.

The nation's third oldest city, Newark is one of the leading historic spots in the Northeast, renowned as the most culturally affluent region in New Jersey. While smaller than nearby New York City, just a few miles and a few minutes away by car or public transportation, Newark has a lot to offer.

The Ironbound district comes alive at night. It is an area known for its restaurants, bars and nightclubs drawing heavy crowds particularly on weekends. When walking around be sure to keep your personal belongings with you, and do not leave your personal items unattended. Try to limit your use of electronics. If you feel lost and need directions ask a local for assistance, or walk into a local shop or restaurant. Public transportation is available all night long; however if you’ve been out celebrating, consider taking a taxi or car service to deliver you to your destination.
