Evidence of its heritage is everywhere, with the 16th century Jerónimos Monastery and the historical Belém Tower being just two of the attractions worth adding to your itinerary.

And those are merely the manmade wonders – Lisbon is a city of natural beauty too. For hiking and walking, head for the natural parks of Sintra and Arrábida. Or, for a more relaxing experience, look to the coast. Lisbon’s urban beaches are some of the best in Europe.
