The beautiful and peaceful Pantai Beras Basah is located at the west tip of Langkawi.

Pulau Beras Basah is famous for its beautiful white sandy beaches with crystal clear blue waters and the rich mystifying forest with magnificent mountains in the background. It an ideal place for you to get away for a while and indulge yourself in the beauty of nature.

Besides its pristine white sand beaches, it offers other interesting activities too including Para sailing; snorkeling, banana boat ride swimming or you can just bathe and relax under the sun. You might be able to see a group of around 40-50 playful dolphins as they show up only occasionally.

When the sea is perforated by strong waves, the mountains surface of this island makes it an appropriate refuge for fishermen to protect themselves from the stormy winds.

Pulau Beras Basah is an uninhabited and not well-developed Island which has enabled it to maintain its beauty and peace. There are a few basic facilities available like stalls of soft drinks and washrooms. This island is also a home to monkeys and you must be careful with your food and other stuff as they have a tendency to sneak and grab your things!

Getting There

The best way to get to the Island is to have a 4 hours Island Hopping tour, provided by almost every travel agency in Langkawi. It offers to take you to three different Islands which are Dayang Bunting, Singa Besar and Beras Basah.

All you need to do is to get to the Pantai Cenang - located 25 km west of Kuah Town and you will find boats ready to take you to the tour. Departure will take place at Pantai Tengah or Pantai Cenang. Tourists can opt for walking if stay at Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah. The whole journey should take less than 15 minutes.

To get to Langkawi, you can either go by air or by ferry. The ferry operates only four routes from Kuala Kedah, Kuala Perlis, Penang and also Satun, in Thailand. However, it is usually packed with crowds during the ride.

For those looking to fly with a budget airline from Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi, there are daily flights provided by budget airlines like AirAsia, MYAirline and Batik Air Malaysia. There are daily direct flights from Singapore Changi Airport to Langkawi operated by Scoot.

There are also full-fledged airlines operating daily direct flights to Langkawi, such as Malaysia Airlines.

Taxi and shuttle services are available at your convenience from respective hotels. Car and motorcycle rentals are recommended for those possessing a valid license. Cars and motorcycles for rent are mostly available at the airport and hotels, all at reasonable and affordable prices.
