Oriental Village

At the foothills of Gunung Mat Cincang (Mount Mat Cincang), lies the quaint Oriental Village. A collection of more than 50 activity & adventure providers; F&B outlets; souvenir & retail stores; galleries and spas, the Oriental Village offers a quality day-out of fun, adventure, shopping and gastronomic delights at one location!

Anchored by Langkawi Cable Car, arguably the best tourist attraction in the country. It is also the only premier must-visit hotspot on the island.

Oriental Village also offers elephant rides, ATV trails, motor-cross rides and SEGWAY tours in and around the Village. It is owned and managed by LADA Eco-Tourism Sdn Bhd, a fully-owned subsidiary of the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA).

There are more than 20 souvenir and retail outlets and kiosks around the Village, offering some of the best value-for-money souvenir shopping on the island. The largest retail or souvenirs stores at the Oriental Village are the Zon Duty-free Emporium and Langkawi Shopping Zone.

The Village features several galleries of interest including the Langkawi Geopark Information Center, the National University of Malaysia (UKM) Reseach Exhibition and the Tiger! Tiger! Gallery & Exhibit that features a "live" tiger exhibit.

The Oriental Village also offers several accommodation options including a 30-room boutique hotel, dormitory-styled accommodations and outdoor camping.

Getting There

The Oriental Village is located in the north-western quadrant of Langkawi in an area known as Burau Bay. Others may also refer to this area as Pantai Kok or Seven Wells Waterfall areas.

To get to Langkawi, you can either go by air or by ferry. The ferry operates only four routes from Kuala Kedah, Kuala Perlis, Penang and also Satun, in Thailand. However, it is usually packed with crowds during the ride.

For those looking to fly with a budget airline from Kuala Lumpur to Langkawi, there are daily flights provided by budget airlines like AirAsia, MYAirline and Batik Air Malaysia. There are daily direct flights from Singapore Changi Airport to Langkawi operated by Scoot.

There are also full-fledged airlines operating daily direct flights to Langkawi, such as Malaysia Airlines.

Taxi and shuttle services are available at your convenience from respective hotels. Car and motorcycle rentals are recommended for those possessing a valid license. Cars and motorcycles for rent are mostly available at the airport and hotels, all at reasonable and affordable prices.
