Tawau Airport

Tawau Airport (IATA: TWU, ICAO: WBKW) is an airport located in Tawau, a town
in the state of Sabah in Malaysia. The Airport is situated approximately 31 km
from Tawau town and was officially opened in December 2001.
With a 3,000 metres long full-service runway, Tawau Airport s is able to
accommodate bigger aircrafts such as the Airbus series.
A new 10,000 sq. metre terminal, equipped with airport facilities and services,
caters to the increasing number of tourists destined to
Sipadan Island, one of
the richest marine habitats in the world and other attractive marine and natural
parks located nearby Tawau.
During the early days, Tawau Airport was located on Jalan Utara, literally known
as Northern road about 2 miles away from Tawau.
The airport was subsequently opened to public in December 2001. Tawau Airport
became the second largest airport in Sabah after
Kota Kinabalu International
Airport.
