Sandakan Airport

Sandakan Airport (IATA: SDK, ICAO: WBKS) is a domestic airport that serves Sandakan, a city in the state of Sabah in Malaysia. It is located about 13 kilometers from the town. The terminal, which covers 8,645 sq. metres of floor space, has the capacity to handle 1.5 million passengers annually.

For people living and working nearby Sandakan, the Sandakan Airport provides a fast access to the rest of the country.

The airport is also a major tourism gateway for visitors wishing to experience turtle watching during peak seasons in July and September. Sandakan is a busy commercial centre at the entrance to a beautiful island-studded bay.

Most activity centres on the docks and wharves that sprawl along the waterfront. Sandakan is well served by the Malaysia Airlines domestic network, and there are daily flights to Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.

AirAsia has a direct daily flight from Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia Airlines (operated by MASwings) offers twin-otter flights to Tawau, Kudat, and Tomanggong (Tabin Wildlife Reserve).
